Tears flowed Tuesday morning as Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State visited Ukpabi, Nimbo, in Uzo-Uwani local government area of the state. Ugwuanyi, who could not hold back his tears was in the company of Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nwodibo Ekechukwu, the GOC 82 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, as well as the Enugu State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.The Governor, thereafter, declared two days fasting and prayer in the State, asking residents to commit the situation into God’s hand.The visit coincided with the recovery of one more dead resident, who was slaughtered by the herdsmen. This is as many survivors, with varrying degrees of injuries on the head, neck, and other parts of the body are currently receiving treatment in different hospitals in Nsukka.As at the time of filling this report, some of them are being moved to the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, Parklane, Enugu.

Concerned by untold suffering as well as hazard emanating from the activities of black marketers, especially those who sell petroleum products inside plastic containers/jerry-cans, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase, has directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and FCT/State Commands Commissioners of Police to arrest anybody found selling petrol and other petroleum products in plastic container. The IGP, who issued the directives in Abuja on Monday, April 25, said apart from the hardship this act is causing to fuel buyers, it has also rendered some innocent and law abiding citizens homeless due to fire outbreak from jerry-can petrol storage. Serious communal war broke out this morning amongst the Isekiri Community in Warri.  As I am writing this report, it is reported that nine people have already been killed in the ongoing crisis.  "This is a very rare occurrence in Warri, I mean, people from the same Community fighting themselves ", a weeping woman lamented.  It was gathered that a faction of the Community has instituted a case against the new Olu in Court while the action did not go down well with another faction of the same community,  Though the Army and Police have moved in, the violence is far from being contained.  Details later as events unfold.

An Islamic organisation, Muslims Against Terror, has called on the Federal Government to declare Fulani animal herders involved the killing of farmers around the country terrorists and insurgents. Signed by Dr. Ahmad Amadi Jnr., the statement called for unrestrained condemnation of the herders' violent activities. ‎ "We urge the government of Nigeria to condemn these wanton acts firmly and declare the perpetrators terrorists and an insurgency according to the law and deal with them with the full power of the military," the group demanded. The minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed revealed that 55 people stole N1.34tr between 2006 and 2013. The minister made this revelation at the first town hall meeting held in Lagos state on Monday, April 25, 2016. The Nigerian military has once again confirmed the possibility that most of the over 200 girls of Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, kidnapped by the Boko Haram terrorists in 2014 are alive and allegedly kept in two locations in the North-east. Coventry University Student Ozi Akerele Who was missing Last year January has been found dead. "Two young boys playing football found body of missing student in disused Coventry churchyard. The body in a disused Coventry churchyard believed to be that of missing student Ozi Akerele was discovered by two ten-year-old boys. A Nigerian drug lord who is serving 27 years behind bars has flouted prison rules by flaunting his £3,000 gold Rolex watch and luxury designer shirts that he wears in prison. The Lagos state command operatives from Dopemu division has arrested a man named Akanbi Lawal for chaining his son Yusuf Lawal aged 35years for two months. When he was discovered, Yusuf’s hands were already decaying due to the injury sustained as a result of the chaining. When interrogated, Mr. Lawal said the shameful and disgraceful attitude of his son made him chain him down at home for two months. Yusuf had earlier been declared missing until his friend Tayo Olukoju discovered him in the room where he was hidden by his father. The Lagos state Police public relations officer SP Dolapo Badmos said the victim has been taken to General hospital where he’s receiving treatment. At the early hours of today, Sunday 24th April 2016, troops of 81 Battalion and some elements of 251 Task Force Battalion, 25 Brigade, ambushed suspected Boko Haram terrorists escaping from Sambisa forest to Fulawani village. The ambushed terrorists were trying to link up with other terrorists or members of their families to relocate to other places. It will be recalled that the troops intercepted a group of women and children yesterday who claimed to have escaped from the terrorists enclave in Sambisa forest. However, during screening and interrogation, it was confirmed that they were the terrorists’ advance party relocating to a new safe haven following intense tactical operations by troops. The troops sprang a surprise ambush on the group of escaping terrorists from Sambisa forest crossing towards Alagarno mounted on motorcycles and bicycles, killing 5 of them and recovering a number items. A 17-year-old bride was allegedly strangled to death by her husband on the night of their wedding in a suspected case of ‘honour killing’, Jacobabad police said on Saturday. No fewer than 13 persons may have been killed as herdsmen and farmers clashed in Taraba State even as farmers in about three local government areas were chased out of their villages and are currently taking refuge in Dan-Anacha market in Gasol local government area of the state. The crisis was ignited when two herdsmen were reportedly killed, last Tuesday, by armed robbers along Kyaior-Gyo Road.
