In perhaps the most stinging criticism of the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), by a past leader of the body, the former Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Olubunmi Okogie, said the current president of the association, Ayo Oritsejafor is making a mockery of the association by his closeness to President Goodluck Jonathan and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party. Describing him as “fallen from grace to grass”, Mr. Okogie said Mr Oritsejafor’s has also lost grip of the leadership of CAN. A pastor and nineteen other persons were killed by the dreaded Boko Haram sect in a fresh attack on Borno communities. Ten churches were also set ablaze by the insurgents. Just as everyone has started celebrating that the insurgency in the Northeast of the country was drawing to a close with recent ceasefire of some of the members of the terrorist group, some suspected members of the Boko Haram sect on Wednesday attacked Shaffa and Shindiffu villages of Hawul Local Government Area of the troubled Borno state. They were accused by fleeing residents to have killed a pastor, a teacher and eighteen others. According to members of the attacked communities, the murdered pastor was Eliud Gwamna Mshelizza of the Living Faith Church, and another person, teacher (name withheld) working at the Government Girls Secondary School Shaffa. According to them, those killed were mostly Christians as the communities were mostly Christian dominated.

Miss Ishaya was said to have been found near a police station in Mubi town, Adamawa State, on Wednesday after she was dumped there by the insurgents, according to security sources. The motion for her to be immortalized was moved by Hon Adefunmilayo Tejuoso and seconded by Hon Muyiwa Jimoh. The lawmakers said Dr. Adadevoh's act of stopping Sawyer from leaving the First Consultant hospital after she found out he was infected with the deadly virus, saved many lives.The Speaker of the House of Assembly,Adeyemi Ikuforiji directed the clerk of the House, Segun Abiru to communicate the decision to the state Governor.
